Springbank distillery, under the ownership and operation of the Mitchell family in Campbeltown since 1837, holds a prestigious status among Scotland's revered distilleries. After a brief period of mothballing between 1979 and 1987, Springbank underwent a revival, deciding to cease sales to the blending industry and focus solely on single malt sales. Today, it stands out as one of the few distilleries handling the entire whisky production process—from malting and distilling to bottling and maturation—on the same site. Springbank produces three distinct and highly prized single malts.
This particular bottling is an incredibly rare single-cask Springbank, distilled on the last day of 1967 and bottled in 1978. The bottle is adorned with a large back label, a characteristic feature found on many Italian imports during that era. This Springbank release not only represents the exceptional quality of the distillery's single malt but also stands as a collector's item, showcasing the uniqueness and rarity associated with Springbank's offerings.
